Meaning Of Black Rubber Band On The Left Wrist

Dye: first result!

As promised, here we are writing (four hands) on the new experience of last weekend .. why are so many things to say, so let us join forces!

begin with the process:
get yourself, as well as a ball of pure l ana , many natural substances can!
Since we do not like things simple, we wanted to immediately try to make a ball of many colors and we are informed about what is best to use. Essentially any root, fruit, berries and flowers that we find in nature is for us:)!
So we started looking at what we had in the house: every day we make the coffee, so we have avoided throwing the dust when used, and we kept it aside.

We gleaned two bowls.
Then, there was a bit 'of a type of beet roots that were beginning to ammosciarsi a bit' too, so we did not throw!

And finally, we have found the flowers on the street (though we do not have a picture!) And we've got them added!

The night before put each ingredient in a pot and cover with two different water, bring to boil and simmer for an hour. then let it sit overnight (to have a stronger staining).

The day after first preparing the wool for color: unroll all the ball to form a skein, tie the two ends of the wire and with a little more color to tie the skein in several places, so as to avoid soaking in water the whole tangle!

Then prepare the substance that will be used to fix the color:
using roots or flowers, etc..
1 part vinegar
4 parts cold water
(we used 8 cups of water and two of white wine vinegar)

using berries
1 / 2 cup of salt
8 cups of cold water

Put water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then turn off the heat and add vinegar. Allow to cool before you plunge the wool (matted otherwise!).

sure that the wool is completely submerged in the solution and let it rest for an hour.

At this point, remove and rinse the coil to well. Have different colors each in a different container filtering (the liquid should be left alone, although with coffee is a bit 'hard!) And immerse the bundle. To rest all night .. I know it's hard .. but the result certainly will satisfy our curiosity! Anyway, give it a peek every now and then is allowed, eh!
The next day, equip yourself with rubber gloves and carefully rinse the coil until the water is clear (I did a step and a soap fabric softener to remove the smell of coffee, which is very strong) and put out to dry!

.. and here is your first ball:)!

Even if it lasts a few days is a complicated process at all, but rather funny! Definitely repeat the experience soon with new colors!

Not bad as an example of self! ... Certainly, in the middle because we do not have (yet) that spun the ball, but still ... the result we were very impressed.
In a time when that does not talk about reuse, recycling, critical consumption, sustainable actions, we found very interesting the possibility of putting into practice what nature has to offer with its colors and its nuances.
age-old tradition (now buried under big words such as technology, industrialization, global economy) tell us that the fabrics are dyed with natural substances completely .... among other things, at no cost!
not forget, too, that in its role it must feel good, and unfortunately (in stramaggioranza of cases) the production of yarn to the composition of an item of clothing comprises a series of treatments with dyes, preservatives, anti-moth products and related which are certainly not good for our health. Among other things, these processes are magically protected by trade secret, so as to render almost impossible to figure out which product in particular that made us be determined that annoying itching or allergy ...
And then there are no excuses, look around, raise and colors!

Next goal: be able to get the red! purple! ... Green!
Who knows ... will keep you informed.
